The G-DEC30 is really kind of a unique MIDI device because in reality you can almost think of it as two MIDI devices in one package(an amp and a synth). The MIDI spec doesn't really have a standard method of addressing devices like this, so in order to isolate the two devices we created the "MIDI CONTROL" option in the utility menu. This option determines whether MIDI messages on channel 16 are routed to the amplifier or the synth. By default the MIDI CONTROL is set to AMP(ch16 data controls the amps functionality). Page 16 of the G-DEC30 manual has a full list of all the MIDI CMD's that the G-DEC30 will accept. Most of these controls were added so that you can get some of the same functionality as the ULT4 footswitch by configuring any generic MIDI foot controller(that is configurable). The problem is that if any of the MIDI control messages are found in a song, the amp may behave in a way that is unexpected. One of the midifiles Bob had problems with contained several program changes and continuous controller messages on ch16. Some of these changed the volume other switched the amp to the tuner during playback. When the amp is in tune mode the amp is not locked up but there are only a few ways to get back to the song screen(press exit or song) once you are back to the playmode screen the start stop button should work. If you don't want to use any of the MIDI amp controls I would suggest changing the MIDI CONTROL option to SYNTH (in retrospect that probably should have been our default setting) and then you can avoid this problem altogether. Otherwise, another solution is to open up songs in Jammer prior to loading them into the amp and verify that none of the tracks are on ch16. If they are, you can change them to another channel or delete them. If you plan on using MIDI controls in your songs to dynamically control the amp during song playback I would only recommend using the 3 LEVEL commands, the 4 FX params, AMP GAIN and the 2 VOL controls in songs that you will be storing in the amp. |
